Ill met by moonlight, proud Titania…
Two lovers, eloping to marry in secret…
…In pursuit: a hard-hearted adamant, and the lovelorn lady he has jilted…
…A shortcut through the forest…
…What could possibly go wrong?
Hermia and Lysander run away at night for a clandestine wedding, since her refusal to marry her father’s choice, Demetrius, will be punished by a life sentence in a nunnery, or death. Determined to have his bride, Demetrius sets off in pursuit, followed in turn by his ex, Helena, desperate to win him back.
But, unperceived by human senses, the faerie world of the forest is riven by marital strife. Oberon and Titania, the faerie king and queen, are locked in battle; the seasons are in chaos, and a mischievous ancient magic lies in wait for the unwary…
…including the local am-dram group, rehearsing secretly in the forest, and desperate to make their mark.
If you go down to the woods tonight, you’d better not go alone…
